FAWSL: West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

1’: Brighton get us underway for the first half!

1’: Whelan is fouled.

2’: The free kick is in a good position. Kaagman delivers the ball and Arnold collects the cross.

4’: O’Sullivan does well to win the ball back and it falls to Jarrett, who has a shot but it’s wide of the target.

6’: Vetterlein gets a cross in but it goes out.

11’: Van Egmond plays it to Lehmann but a wall of yellow shirts blocks her shot.

14’: Van Egmond tries to kick the ball forward in the area and it clips the top of the net.

17’: Van Egmond gets on the end of a loose ball and has a shot but it hits the side netting.

18’: Thomas tried to lift the ball over the keeper but Fiskerstrand does well and punches it away.

19’: Leon fouls Jarrett.

21’: Thomas is fouled.

22’: Thomas is fouled by Kerkdijk.

23’: Svitkova puts in the free kick but it goes out.

25’: Daly puts in a teasing ball but Thomas couldn’t get enough on it.

27’: Vetterlein is fouled by Whelan.

29’: Great take by Fiskerstrand. Some excellent football by West Ham and Fiksterstrand was quick off her line to take the ball.

31’: Fisk did well to stop a counter from Brighton after putting out a through ball from Le Tissier to Jarrett.

35’: Svitkova plays it wide to Thomas and her shot goes wide.

37’: Thomas is fouled.

39’: Daly delivers the free kick long and Fiskerstrand collects it.

40’: Van Egmond has a shot Saved.

40’: Great ball to Whelan and she goes down.

42’: Van Egmond has a shot blocked by Kerkdijk.

44’: Daly is fouled by Green, who receives a yellow card.

Half-Time: West Ham have dominated the first half with Vetterlein, Van Egmond, Daly and Thomas being the standout players. They’ll be frustrated that they haven’t scored yet. There have been several chances for Brighton and they had a case for a penalty towards the end.

45’: The Hammers start the second half!

48’: Thomas puts the ball in the box after getting past Kerkdijk and Fiskerstrand collects it.

52’: Good link up between Lehmann and Leon but Jarrett intercepted.

54’: Whelan dribbles into the box and Fisk puts it out for a corner.

54’: The delivery was teasing and Arnold punched it out for another Brighton corner.

55’: Jarrett fouls Daly in the Hammers’ box.

56’: Good period for Brighton, some good build up play.

60’: Both sides creating chances now.

64’: Leon has a shot go over from the edge of the area.

66’: Kaagman is fouled.

67’: WEST HAM UNITED SUBSTITUTIONS: Dali comes on for Svitkova. Lehmann is replaced by Kvamme.

67’: The free kick is put in the area and West Ham countered.

67’: BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION SUBSTITUTION: Lee replaces Simpkins.

69’: GOAL! The Seagulls have scored. Brilliant goal. Jarrett hooks it over Arnold and she heads it into the back of the net. 1-0 Brighton.

72’: Brighton almost scored a second through Kaagman. Her shot is saved by Arnold.

73’: Thomas fouls Green outside Brighton’s area and it relieves the pressure on the Brighton defence.

75’: Thomas runs through and tries a shot but it goes wide.

77’: Dali had a low shot but Fiskerstrand saves it.

80’: BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION SUBSTITUTION: Heroum replaces Green.

80’: WEST HAM UNITED SUSBTITUTION: Cissoko comes on for Cho.

83’: Daly made a great run froward but Kerkdijk does well to get rid of it.

84’: Free kick to Brighton. Kaagmaan crosses the ball in and Le Tissier meets it but she blasts it over.

86’: Dali has a shot deflected and Fiskerstrand saves it.

88’: Leon fouls Le Tissier in Brighton’s area.

90’: Kaagman played an excellent ball through to Jarrett but Cissoko gets there quicker.

90+1’: 5 added minutes.

90+1’: WEST HAM UNITED SUBSTITUTION: Kiernan replaces Leon.

90+2’: The corner is kicked in and Flaherty fires the corner over on the volley.

90+3‘: Gibbons takes a Daly’s ball to the face.

90+4‘: The corner went in and Fiskerstrand caught the cross.

90+6’: BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION SUBSTITUTION: Bance replaces Jarrett.

Full-Time: West Ham were dominate in the first half and Brighton turned it around in the second half. The Hammers will be disappointed as they didn’t take their chances in the first half. Brighton had an excellent second half and really deserved the win with West Ham battling until the end and Brighton’s defence soaked up all the pressure. Kaagman and Whelan had great games. My player of the match was Rihanna Jarrett after a wonderful performance rustling the Hammers’ defence and her goal was her first FAWSL goal in Brighton colours.
