FAWSL: Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham United

Teams:

Brighton: Walsh, Lundorf, Williams, Kerkdijk, Gibbons, Simpkins, Bowman, Le Garrec, Brazil, Umotong, Whelan

West Ham: Brosnan, Redisch Kvamme, Flaherty, Vetterlein, Baunach, Cho, Middag, Dali, Lehmann, Thomas, Kiernan.

2:05pm: West Ham had a good chance with a cross dwindling out. Brighton starting to now regain possession and trying to control the game.

2:07pm: Pretty square at the moment. Both sides have had a small chance but nothing clear-cut and both not having to make any saves yet.

2:10pm: First corner for West Ham but hit first player and came to nothing.

2:12pm: Good chance for Brighton. Excellent ball from Whelan to Le Garrec who chased and passed it to a player on the edge of the box.

2:14pm: Lovely ball from Brazil to Umotong who was just offside.

2:16pm: Free kick for West Ham but cross lacked quality yet again and hit first person.

2:18pm: First clear cut chance for Brighton's Whelan. Lovely pass from Brazil and Whelan couldn't quite shoot so hooked it across goal and Brazil hooked it over.

2:19pm: First Yellow of the game for West Ham's Vetterlein for a foul on Lundorf.

2:23pm: GOAL! Great goal from Martha Thomas for West Ham. Her first goal for her side was a clever one on the counterattack over the keeper. 0-1 West Ham, a bit against the run of play.

2:24pm: Close call for Brosnan as Whelan's cross almost dipped into the net.

2:26pm: Le Garrec put in an excellent cross that almost made it's way into Umotong's path but Brosnan took the ball before it reached its target.

2:30pm: Still pretty even in terms of play. Good game so far. 15 minutes until half time.

2:32pm: Throw in for Brighton. They crossed it in and Whelan almost flicked it on but Brosnan snatched it away.

2:34pm: Dali made a lovely through ball to Lehmann who shot but Brighton's defence and keeper holds strong.

2:40pm: West Ham just holding onto play with pressure from Brighton that's not causing too much damage.

HALFTIME: 0-1 at the Broadfield Stadium to West Ham. They are wearing their limited edition kit which was made to support Breast Cancer. The scoreline is unfair to Brighton but they should've put the game square hen Brazil hooked it over the crossbar. Great game, bring on the second half.

3:09pm: Good corner from Brighton. Unforunately, not causing too much damage.

3:12pm: Almost a second for Thomas but good defending made her shot go wide and out for a goal kick.

3:18pm: BRIGHTON SUB: Le Tissier on for Simpkins and Green on for Umotong.

3:19pm: WEST HAM SUB: Vetterlein off for Hendrix.

3:23pm: Yellow for Le Garrec for an unnecessary challenge.

3:23pm: Meg Walsh keeps Brighton in the game after a deadly pass to Lehmann.

3:29pm: PENALTY FOR WEST HAM. Dali scored with such composure sending Megan Walsh the wrong way.

3:30pm: WEST HAM SUB: Kiernan and Middag off for Longhurst and Leon.

3:32pm: GOAL! Lehmann shoots and the goal takes a deflection leaving Walsh beaten.

3:32pm: BRIGHTON SUB: Connolly on for Brazil.

3:43pm: Good chances for Brighton but they can't come back from this with 5 minutes to go. Good fighting spirit though. West Ham have played excellently but fought hard to keep Brighton out of the game in the second half.

3:49pm: Yellow card for Brighton's Kayleigh Green.

3:50pm: Yellow card for Lehmann.

3:51pm: GOAL! Whelan gets a shot away but it's deflected behind for a corner which is played short and Megan Connolly scores! Whelan gets the assist.

3:56pm: Not looking good for Brighton as Le Garrec looks like she may have to be stretchered off but she's up and walking now.

FINAL WHISTLE: Good game. Great goals for West Ham. Alisha Lehmann is my woman of the match because of her good work rate, her goal and assist. Good game for her and for West Ham. First half looked even but West Ham dominated the second half until stoppage time when Brighton got a goal back, they looked like they were just starting to play and that they could do more damage.
